Rugby World Cup 2011

Australia? Note dolenti, ma anche punti forti.

Now that the group phase has ended and that the quarters are gone it is time to analyse this world cup.
In 5 days the semifinals will be played and still I haven't talked about RUGBY! What's going on?

Let's say that I saw some matches thanks to internet, here nobody is transmitting the matches.
I've seen the All Blacks, my Myths, against a poor team (in rugby the difference between top teams and the other is abysmal) e they didn't impress me, then against France (so I've seen France too...) they impressed me a lot. Even if the first 10 minutes where all for the Blues (but they could not capitalize), the next 70 where only "black". Then I saw the quarter against Argentina and I noticed what I was thinking: the All Blacks are scaring good, but they are not too tight in defensive end and without Carter they have nobody as fly-half and so they are less effective attacking. Let's hope that Cruden will keep his inspiration, as in the second half against Argentina he played well (but the impressive one was Piri Weepu!)

Let's come back to France: they committed two mistakes in the groups phase. First against New Zealand, but it can happen (and remember the great 10 minutes) but the again against Tonga, or Samoa? They've lost against a second level team! They seemed to be doomed against England and the they played great (saw the match in bits...) at the defensive end. Could they win the cup? Maybe, we will see.

Australia? Not that good, but also strong positive things. Attacking and making plays are not their strongest, but as a defensive team they where immense against South Africa. They let no space to the Springbocks and so the semifinal against the All Blacks is open (also because, as I said, the absence of Carter is a big issue for New Zealand).

Last, but my favourites, comes Wales! Love them! Lost for 1 point against the Springbocks, but then they've found their groove and played great against everybody, finishing with the great win against Ireland! Sadly I didn't see no one of their matches (because I don't want to see them lose and also because I couldn't), but I've got the feeling that they can play to win the cup... and it would be just great! Go Shane! Go reds! If we defeat France (but it's difficult, the french can play in any way, the worst and the best) the final it's at our reach!
