Exoplanet count

So, if you'll see a post with "Draft" at the beginning of the title from now on you'll know that that's a draft of a post, just a reminder to me not to forget about what I want to talk about (nice phrase, ah?!?).

I've been reading a National Geographic's article recently talking about the planets that have been discovered around stars that are not the Sun, the so-called exoplanets. As I wrote there are now more than 300 hundred planets of this type on the records. Almost all of them are gas giant type planets, like our Jupiter and Saturn, normally even bigger than them. So not so easily fit for life (maybe on one of their moons?). But some of them are Earth like. Lets tell something before. Normally these planets are discovered studying the gravital effect on their sun (you look at the position of the star, if it moves it means there is something that's running 'round it!) and thus, due to the distance from us, it is easier to discover a bigger planet than a smaller one. But, like in our system, we can assume that when there is a planet around a star, probably there is place for another one, or even for a complete solar system like ours!
So, by now, studying only a portion of the stars near us, we found out 300 exoplanets. When we look up at the sky we can see up to 6000 stars with naked eye, but there are some billions more that we cannot see because their light is too faint. Probably around a lot of this billions of stars there are millions of planets. And of this millions of planets maybe thousands are similar to the Earth and fit for life. So... hundreds of them... could be that... maybe... we are not alone.
Also because this is only in our Galaxy, but there are millions of galaxies.

So, please, start to explain your God. Now.

[SETI is a project to search signals of Extra Terrestrial Intelligence using a radio telescope. It has pioneered the use of cloud computation to compute the huge amount of data that new telescopes collect each day using BOINC. It  uses computation power from pc not in use (or sometimes in use...) from volunteers. It could be ranked as one of the most powerful supercomputer in the world, namely the fourth]

Ora.
